Working Woman Limited Edition Digital Prints by Gabrielle Rosenstein
Working Woman is obvious, isn't it? An ordinary event constructed of attitude and subdued enthusiasm, a Working Woman walks the city with vivacity, perspective, and takeout. Although the illustration itself features painterly quality such as sponge dabbing and airbrush, the final form has been altered through the Epson Stylus Pro 11880, and the print transferred to an acrylic slab to emulate the illustration's digital birth-place (the screen). I present a memory, a tribute, and a critique on my life through the illustration of another woman.
As a BFA graduate from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Gabrielle Rosenstein works as an illustrator, designer, and Media Manager at Vubiquity in Southern CA. Satire and sarcasm are central themes in Gabrielle's youthful and everyday illustrations. By utilizing the practicalities of digital illustration, she designs tubular characters, each manifesting their own psyche and identity of femininity. The work evokes an effortless attitude, while retaining a static permanence—an autobiographic snapshot.
